Quintessential Winnipesaukee Lake Cottage Sleeps 8 with Views and Dock

NEEDS DEEP CLEANING
Such a beautiful location! Dock was in excellent condition! Very happy I was able to bring my dog. I'm no stranger to rustic charm but this has a musty smell and has not had a deep cleaning in years. Surfaces were cleaned just not under beds or behind dressers. Even the showers were wiped clean inside but outside the doors slide in a track thst has black mold. You can see very easily if looking from the doorway. I'm not nit picking it's just I would have loved the old charm if it was clean. Blinds have broken slats, back door has sign requesting not to close due to not being able to open during humid months. Virtually makes it impossible to secure your home when not there. We arrived to a clogged toilet and was told someone would be coming the following morning. The following morning I followed up at noon. I explained I was waiting all morning and the rental agency said I didn't have to be home. I have personal belongings that I value and really don't want anyone in my rental if I'm not there; shevtold me she understands and the problem was fixed by 1pm that day. That night, Sunday, the smoke detector went off at 1am stating programming of master bedroom was complete. All I could think of was to change the batteries. Once I put it back up same message occurred two hours later so I took the batteries out. Monday morning I woke up to a puddle on the floor outside the bathroom door. I looked up and saw the ceiling dripping. I called the rental agency and told her about the two problems we now have. She told me she would call the handyman and get back to me. We went boating, never received a call back but when I returned the smoke detector was back up on the ceiling in the bedroom. No note left regarding the dripping ceiling when raining which made matters worse considering the unfortunate rainy week we had. I guess no one believes in renters privacy! How frustrating. Additionally, the smoke detector blinks red occasionally but did not make the voice of programming again. I'm pretty sure it's defective but didn't care to have further visits from the handyman while vacationing. I would also like to add that there were ants seen in the bathroom whenever we went in there but didn't care to report this at the time since I can only imagine they would spray raid and I didn't want that in the house. Final note to anyone considering this property is the washer and dryer are located outsided in a dirty shed that still has last years leaves occupying it. I did express all this when checking out and the woman at the desk said this was a new rental. I think "At the lake vacation rental" should visit and exam all homes for cleanliness before accepting them as one of their properties. I also think that a renter should have property that is able to be secured and privacy extended to renters during their stay!

It was quiet and comfortable wish a boat was available to use on property as cannot rent anything nearby and get it to property that is reasonably close by.
I give it 4 stars......

The property was a perfect place for our vacation on the lake. Direct waterfront, dock included and my dog was allowed to come on vacation with us. The house was the old cottage feel that could accommodate many people. We had coffee out on the dock in the morning, we enjoyed our jet ski, paddle board and swimming during the day. Lee’s Mill Boat Ramp was a good location to launch the jet ski. Center Harbor was close for going into town. Our dog loved the vacation as much as we did! At The Lake Vacation Rentals employees were terrific to work with for this rental. Thank you to the owners for sharing your home for our stay. We hope to be back next year.
